TELEPORTING: FRANK BRUCKMANN PAINTINGS

During December 18, 2024 to February 6, 2025, the NewAlliance Foundation Art Gallery at CT State Community College, Gateway Campus, is proud to present the work of Frank Bruckmann in his solo exhibition: TELEPORTING.

Frank Bruckmann’s intimate scenes of Connecticut’s interconnected highways are quiet and pensive. The mood Bruckmann’s paintings evoke are hypnotizing in the way they slow time, freezing us in a familiar moment of careening down the highway. Driving places us in a state of motion that shifts our perception; however, Bruckmann’s paintings are still. Distance, time, and even colors blend making our eyes work rigorously to keep up. This sensation of altered states is heightened in the frozen images of Bruckmann’s compositions of a world in motion. Bruckmann’s paintings capture a snapshot of our lives spent teleporting through our environments.

“Varied subject matter and location are represented in Frank Bruckmann’s rich oeuvre. With nearly four decades of oil painting: still lifes, figures, landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, interiors, slice of life, and the ordinary but magnificent moments of living are celebrated across Bruckmann's canvases. Painting figures, portraits and still lifes in his New Haven studio, moving outward to Westville for the Occupational Spirit series, downtown to New Haven for the cityscapes, North to Monhegan Island, Maine, south to Pennsylvania, across the Atlantic to Europe, one could map in overlapping circles the topography of his career…”
