Tejara and Watercolor Connections present Studies in Movement: Dabke

Watercolor Connections, in collaboration with Motor City Street Dance Academy (MCSDA) and community partners, presents Studies in Movement —a free, monthly summer series exploring the intersection of street dance and visual art through live, participatory sessions alongside live painting and drawing.

This series invites dancers, artists, and the broader community into a shared space where movement becomes subject, story, and study.
Each session highlights a specific dance style and its cultural origins.
 Dancers guide participants through the history, intention, and foundational movements while visual artists translate motion into rapid gestural drawings in real time.

Through repetition, rhythm, and observation, participants engage in a practice that captures what is often fleeting—preserving movement through mark-making.
