The uncompromising world of Scottish Independent Music, pre-Britpop, featuring BMX Bandits, The Pastels, The Soup Dragons and an early incarnation of Teenage Fanclub; rare archive, fascinating interviews, untold stories, and some of the most amazingly difficult, noisy, genius pop music ever given to the world. Includes Edwyn Collins, Bobby Gillespie, Jim Reid, Sean Dickson, Eugene Kelly and Alan McGee.

We’ll be joined by the Director, Grant McPhee, along with Jim McCulloch (BMX Bandits, The Soup Dragons, Green Peppers, Snowgoose) for a post-screening talk and Q&A, hosted by Alistair Braidwood.

Individual tickets are priced on a sliding scale, and we want our screenings to be accessible. If cost is a barrier, please get in touch with [email protected] to request a free ticket. Please note that we have a limited number of free tickets allocated per screening.

Tickets can also be bought on-the-door by card or cash on the day, subject to availability.

Unreserved seating. If you have any access requirements, please contact so we can make arrangements. Our venue is fully accessible, and we can supply a free carer’s ticket.

The 2026 BFI FAN UK-wide season, Rip It Up, explores and celebrates the changing face of youth rebellion, culture and expression – from joy to heartbreak – on screen in the UK.

As part of the season, The Pyramid at Anderston presents Rip It Up at The Pyramid Weekender, co-curated with Ken McCluskey (The Bluebells) and in partnership with Street Level Photoworks.

A packed weekend of film, music, photography and special guests, with our host and MC for the weekend, Alistair Braidwood, including: an exhibition drawn from the archives of Harry Papadopolous, Glastonbury images by Jill Furmanovsky, exclusive event screenings, a special walk with Glasgow Music City Tour, book signings, live performance, print your own merch and memorabilia with Print Clan and Letterspace, pop up portrait studio, live DJ sets and a vinyl, books and merchandise fair, will take over the iconic Pyramid on Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September.

The Pyramid Weekender is part of Rip It Up, supported by Film Hub Scotland as part of the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN), made possible by the National Lottery.
