Spark ALC invites homeschoolers interested in learning more about the school's theatre program to join for a free trial day in preparation for the spring musical, The Sound of Music. Come meet the directors and make connections with a passionate group of teen performers. More details about the workshop can be found below. What: This class will be an opportunity for current students and new students to work with theatre professionals in preparation for Spark Theatre's spring production of The Sound of Music. The trial will feature the following:
A mock dance audition: This is not a choreography heavy show, but there are a few partner dances. We will walk the students through a standard dance audition to give them an idea of what to expect.
Performance Masterclass: This will be an interactive masterclass to teach the students how to prepare an audition/recital. It will begin with a feature performance from Sam Stahlmann, the music director. Afterwards, three students (already assigned) will be given the chance to perform and then be given live feedback.
Music Class: The last hour will be spent teaching the students all of the music for the audition as well as a short choral piece to give them an idea of what the ensemble harmonies will be like.
