About this Event
Join Artist-Teacher Jason Pereira this Fall in an 10-week mural painting program at This program is designed for San Pedro teens (ages ~13- 20) and will follow the entire process of creating large-scale public art, from brainstorming to painting.
Just a short walk from San Pedro High School's Olguin Campus, this cohort will meet every Wednesday from 4-5:30 pm for 10-weeks, starting October 1st!
"JP / Jason Pereira, a mixed Samoan Artist born and raised in the Harbor Area Los Angeles, unceded Tongva land. His family ascends from Tutuila Island, American Samoa. He is a cultural bearer and storyteller in the shape of an Artist, whose practice is rooted in service to Pacific Island culture and community.
As a visual artist, JP generates works that help tell stories and shape identities of the people and organizations that call on him to create. Cultural Art, Graffiti Art and Graphic Design inform his artistry and approach. The art he creates is expressed through murals, paintings, weavings, and mixed media 3D works. They are rich in storytelling, as they're multi-layered and multi-dimensional. JP is a Resident Artist at Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum. There he collaborates with fellow artists, mentors emerging artists, and leads artist talks and creative workshops. He is also a Constellations Fellow with the Center for Cultural Power, and currently works out of his studio in Long Beach, CA."
We are so excited and honored to work with Artist-Teacher Jason Pereira, this semester. Please do not miss out on this opportunity to be mentored in the mural arts by this incredible contemporary artist!

TAUTUA MURAL (2018)
