This fun summer workshop, taught by Literary Arts faculty member, Heath Mensher, is ideal for the young film buff or the young aspiring filmmaker as an entryway into the ‘reading’ and comprehension of film as a language. Exercises will include daily cinematography walks, movie script tricks and philosophies, how to compose shots to tell stories, photo prompt writing, and “short films of the day,” where we analyze films and build visual literacy. By the conclusion of the week, students will have made a “Ciné-Roman,” a series of still photographs that, when put together, tell a story. Open to children entering 7th-9th grades (Older or younger may be considered.) SESSION RUNS: July 8-12, 9 AM-12 PM daily. This workshop is part of Charter Arts Summer Academy, a program of arts enrichment workshops that is open to the community. Read more about the workshop and registration on the school website, CharterArts.org.
