Teen and Tween Spring Fun Sugar Cookie Decorating Class

Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies?! The Mad Batter Baking Company is here to help! In this 2.5-hour class, we'll cover the basics of sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided in class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).

We’ll be decorating with a fun spring theme – from worms (don’t worry – these you’ll want to eat) and flowers, birds and rain boots – you’re going to love gettin’ your feet wet in this sugary garden with me!

You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us.

Dive into our Spring Fun Sugar Cookie Decorating Class, tailor-made for Teens and Tweens itching to unleash their artistic flair. We've got all the sugary goodies - cookies, icing, sprinkles, and even a take-home box - all that's missing is YOU! Each participant gets to play with 6 cookies, 4 dazzling icing hues, sprinkles galore, and nifty decorating tools. Mark your calendars for April 21st, 2024, at 2:00 pm, promising a sweet session filled with creativity and expert guidance. Hurry, there's room for 8, so bring a buddy for double the fun! This class is great for ages 10-16.

The class will be held at Foxtail Coffee located at 1700 NE 23rd Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33062. Nervous about the parking situation? Don’t be! Parking is pretty easy and there are plenty of spaces!

What will I be doing in the class?

Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts, decorating techniques and you will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home with you that day.

Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?

Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it! If you’re skipping class and just ordering the kit – swing by anytime during class to sneak in and pick it up – it’ll be labeled with your name!

Do I need to know how to bake?

Nope! No baking history required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread!

What will we learn in class?

You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, the value of different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class!

What do I need to bring?

Nothing but a smile! Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them as well. Oh – and bring your phone – I love photos!

What will I bring home?

By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 - 48 hours in their own box. I’ll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!

Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?

You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 8 seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP!

I signed up for a class but can't make it?

:( We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 2 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are). Any cancelation after the 2 days will be a class credit redeemable for up to 6 months from the credit issue date.

Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what The Mad Batter Baking Company is all about!

These classes are based in Pompano Beach and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.

For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint if your eyesight is anything like mine. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 2.5 hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!

A little about me – I’ve been baking sugar cookies since 2020 – and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). My favorite cookie themes to decorate are animals and baby shower themes – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!
