2024 THEME: MOSAICA mosaic is a system. Each image is crafted with an array of many different pieces: Some may be sharp, others may be smooth. Some may be elaborate, others may be simple. However, when put together, these different shapes can create something entirely new. Rigid pieces create meandering curves; Dissonance transforms into harmony. When you zoom in, you can admire the individual contributions each piece makes, and when you take a few steps back, the whole picture becomes clear. Just like in a physical mosaic, each aspect of our lives coalesce in distinctive and elaborate ways. A building is made out of its materials, but it is also made out of the history that dictated the style and form in which it was constructed. Each and every human being is composed of the same basic building blocks, and yet we are diverse. A community is molded by the unique flair of its members and the intricate relationships that bind them together. As we zoom in and out of the things that we see and experience in our world, we can gain a more nuanced understanding of them and a greater appreciation of the part that they play in our lives. This year’s conference is a celebration of the remarkable and complex pieces that shape the world around us, as well as the incredible outcomes that we can create as we come together to form a new mosaic.
