About this Event
TEDxEast Cordova Street, "Futures We Held", will feature ideas that help us consider how we get to where we are, the obstacles we overcome and who helps us along the way. The stories told will highlight the struggles facing the Downtown Eastside, demystify the community and dispel the myths associated with the people who live there.
Lunch is included at the event and covered by ticket costs and sponsors, and will be provided by Potluck Catering.
Speakers include:
Jodi Gray: Program Manager of Aoki Ross, Supportive Housing for Trans, Gender-diverse and Two Spirit people
Julia Kate Mitchell: Employment and Education Specialist and advocate for people diagnosed with Autism
Sarah Blyth: Founder of the Overdose Prevention Society (OPS)
Michael Bezabeh: Security Guard
Lisa Guerin: Program Manager of the Colonial Hotel
Deana Mcdonald: Aboriginal Support Worker
*Please Note: TEDxEast Cordova Street is organized by an independent group of volunteers, advocates and workers in the social services sector. Atira has kindly facilitated the event through logistical support, however, Atira is not organizing or responsible for the event.
