Join award-winning master artist David Dunlop for “Techniques of the Masters in Water and Skies”

This workshop focuses on water; how artists have applied varied techniques, designs, palettes, materials, and iconology across time and cultures to paint water, how visual perception and cultural ideas are translated into painting water whether a stream, a pond, waves on the shore or cascades, and how you can learn to paint the subject persuasively and confidently.
In this workshop we learn what triggers our perception of motion and space; how to use recipes for luminosity, halation, sparkle, light refraction effects and after image effects; how simultaneous and successive contrast principles can create more exciting paintings; how historic color symbolism can be use to amplify emotion. We look at the work of color scientists (M. Chevreul and Ogden Rood) who changed the direction of painting. We will demonstrate color mixing, and blending and the joys of radiant translucence found in painting water.
Personal instruction will be offered to artists working in oil, watercolor and acrylic
