About this Event

About the workshop:

Feeling the effects of digital fatigue, exhausted by endless scrolling or burned out by rapid change? Then step away from your digital devices, slow down and explore the wellbeing benefits of writing.

Capturing your thoughts, feelings and experiences with written words is not only cathartic, but it can help you learn about yourself, savour positive experiences and navigate challenging times.

In a world of AI, this is an opportunity to respond to a series of engaging and meaningful writing prompts using your own human mind. It is a chance to escape your everyday life, express yourself, get creative and connect with other digital professionals.

In this session, you’ll:

  • Gain an introduction to reflective writing practices
  • Respond to guided prompts with three short writing bursts
  • Chat to other digital professionals
  • Learn techniques to introduce at work and at home

Writing without pressure, expectations or judgement:

  • All exercises are suitable for beginners
  • Don’t worry your writing won’t be good enough, everything produced in this session is valuable
  • You can disregard spelling and grammar rules
  • We’ll focus on the benefits of the writing process, not the resulting product (though you may choose to produce creative pieces)
  • Although you’re invited to share your writing, there is no pressure to do so.

Please note

The writing exercises are designed to explore positive experiences and elicit pleasant emotions. However, as everyone has their own story, some themes and topics may be personally triggering and negative emotions may surface. You may also wish to write about a difficult experience. The workshop is not a form of therapy and it is important you can keep yourself safe.

  • This event will take place in the loft space at The Attic. It is only accessible by stairs.
