Graham will talk about:This pair of fine Georgian townhouses at 81 & 82 St Thomas Street were built in 1795, at the height of Weymouth’s importance in the world. This was the time when George III ruled the British Empire and did so from the Gloucester Lodge in Weymouth for 14 of the summers between 1789 and 1805. And, when they were built, the only thing that separated the townhouses from the King’s residence was the King’s garden. During its subsequent lifetime it has accommodated some of the most important residents of the town and been connected with some of the town’s most popular entertainment venues.
About Graham:
Graham grew up in Weymouth attending Cromwell Road, Westhaven and the Grammar School before leaving after university to pursue his career. He became passionate about local history after returning here in 2014. He volunteered at the museum for 6 years and was Chair of the Friends of Weymouth Museum for 3 years.
