The 13th Annual Poker Run will be happening this on September 21, 2024, with registration from 11-12pm at Kozy's Bar, 5 miles straight west of Walmart in Yankton. This year's event is to honor the great and legendary Retired Chief of Police, retired Firefighter, EMT, and Veteran of Tyndall, SD, LeWayne Lukkes! I'm certain I am not alone when I say I can't think of a better and more deserving person to be honored.
WAKEFIELD band was popular out at Groveland Park during the time LeWayne was patrolling the streets of Tyndall. So, with that being said, the fun will continue into the night with Wakefield playing from 8-12am, at the Tyndall Community Hall, directly west of the grocery store.
For several years now, Team HOPE has been wanting to do a Groveland Park Reunion benefit. Initially, we wanted it on the Groveland Park location. Unfortunately, this wasn't possible.
It won't be the same, but it will prove to be a great time, with great people...and of course, with a great band!
.....what else do you have to know... These guys bring it all; top notch musicians, showmanship, history, and most importantly....GREAT MUSIC. They sound just like they did the first time you saw them.....
Dress up from your favorite era, 60's, 70's, 80's! There will be prizes for the best dressed!!!!!
Let's all get out and show LeWayne just how amazing he was, and still is!!
And, I am honored to announce that the proceeds of the event are going to Holden Cowher, son of Cierra Hughey, of Yankton. Holden is fighting the battle against non-hodgkins lymphoma. (cancer doesn't deserve capital letters)
