About this Event
Teaching in Person Support (TIPS) sessions have been specifically designed for staff who are new to teaching and student learning, to support their transition to engaging with learners in the on-campus environment.
Covering a variety of topics, the TIPS sessions will each cover an aspect of on campus (in-person) teaching and are designed to give those new to supporting student learning practical support in addition to offering a forum for the sharing of ideas and indeed challenges, with peers.
This TIPS session is focused on ‘Active learning in the classroom.’
An overview and aims of the Active learning in the classroom session are given below:
This session is designed to facilitate exploration of active learning in a face to face learning environment. Practical activities and discussion will be used to facilitate your exploration of active learning strategies that can be applied to your specific learning and teaching context.
Aims of this session:
o Explore the use of technology as a means of engaging learners within the face to face environment
o Engage with questioning as a strategy to promote active learning
o Identify how active learning can be supported through transparency of class design
