Surround yourself with the abundant beauty of the estuary! Alabama K-2nd grade teachers will explore the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Fairhope, AL, as they engage in standards-driven learning, collaboration, games, literature, nature exploration, star gazing and more. This will be your favorite PD of the year!
During the two-day workshop, participants will work with local scientists and experienced coastal educators to explore watershed concepts, emerging concerns in estuarine biology and coastal communities, and the roles citizens and scientists play in protecting Alabama's natural resources. Sessions will include hands-on opportunities (indoors and outdoors) to experience the wonder of mathematics, science, and literacy to keep students - and their teachers - in love with learning. Field activities may include kayaking, seining, hiking and more!
The workshop is FREE but space is limited. Register in PowerSchool, course # 262960.
Dorm space is available for overnight stay. Contact [email protected] for more information. Upon completion of the TOTE workshop, teachers will receive 15 professional development hours and be provided classroom resource materials.
