About this Event
Join this unique educator workshop offered by ANROE and Alaska Project Learning Tree!
We'll start by investigating a 3 year old burn in a wildland urban interface (WUI) by taking a tour through the living classroom of the Yankovich Road Fire site. Learn from interpretive signs and fire professionals about fire in the boreal forest. Then, we'll connect our learning to supporting curriculum that you can use in your classroom!
Pre-Approved for non-academic credit through DEED! Participants who would like to receive 1 CEU of non-academic credit will complete an additional online course ($35 value) from Project Learning Tree that includes 5 Alaska-specific fire education modules. (Non-academic credit is an additional $50 paid separately to DEED). Be sure to choose this add-on if you seek credit!
Educators will receive the wildfire tour and the following curricula:
PLT's Explore Your Environment K-8 Activity Guide ($35 value)
Wildfire and Change in Alaska printed guide and game ($35 value)
Role of Fire in Alaska curriculum and more supporting resources (thumbdrive)
Open to formal and non-formal K-12 educators
