About this Event
Join us on June 10th at 1:00pm for a #TeachTruth teach-In hosted as part of the Teach Truth Day of Action, coordinated by the Zinn Education Project, AAPF, and Black Lives Matter at School.
Teach-in on LGBTQIA+ history followed by select presentations and socializing. We’ll be spotlighting the UpStairs Lounge, with a connection to resources from The Historic New Orleans Collection. Hosted by TEP Center in partnership with the ACLU of Louisiana.
From small towns to big cities and across race and place, most people agree that all students should have everything they need to prepare them for a future where they can thrive. But instead of securing the resources our students need, certain politicians are fueling division and passing laws to erase Black, brown and LGBTQ+ books and history, eliminate racially inclusive and culturally responsive curricula, target LGBTQ+ students and educators, cut public school funding, and undermine trust in educators. The gravity of the attacks on our freedom to learn requires all of us coming together to tell a different story.
