About this Event
Discover Pu’er Tea: A Relaxed Gong Fu Brewing Workshop & Tasting
Join us for a light-hearted, tea-focused gathering where we explore Pu’er tea, the people and trees behind it, and the art of brewing this captivating beverage.
Together, we slow down the process—listening to water, watching leaves unfurl, and tasting how origin, processing, and age shape the flavor. (In tea, where it’s grown, how it’s made, and how old it is all affect the cup!)
No prior knowledge is needed. This isn’t a lecture, and there’s no pressure to “get it right.” Everything is guided, unhurried, and accessible—an opportunity to experience tea as a living connection between people, plants, and places over time.
What You’ll Learn & Experience
- Hands-on Gong Fu brewing (a traditional Chinese method using small teaware for multiple brews) with a gaiwan (small lidded bowl for steeping tea). We’ll cover pouring, timing, and leaf-to-water ratios (how much tea to use per cup)
- Multiple Pu’er tea tastings, featuring Sheng Pu’er (raw, naturally aging pu’er) from different villages, elevations, and tree ages—including single origin and older arbor leaves, plus comparisons of ripe vs. aged Pu’er
- Space for quiet reflection and shared observation—notice aroma, texture, and effects as the leaf unfolds over multiple brews
- All teaware and tea provided—you just bring curiosity and a willingness to slow down
About Your Host
I’m a Pu’er-obsessed tea enthusiast. One of my earliest memories is learning my mother’s iced tea recipe—always in the fridge, always complimented by guests. That sparked my lifelong love of tea.
I’ve explored everything from grocery store tea bags to matcha, herbal blends, and loose leaf, but about five years ago, I fell down the Pu’er rabbit hole and into Gong Fu brewing. I wander into oolongs occasionally, but always return to the infinite variation of Pu’er.
This workshop is designed to give you a head start on enjoying Pu’er and brewing better tea at home. With simple tips and guidance, you can skip the confusion and marketing hype—and discover your new favorite tea.
