About this Event
Don’t get stuck in traffic on your way to King Manor’s Tea and Transit!
Each month, we're interrogating one decade of history to celebrate the 125 years King Manor has been a museum! In March we're taking a closer look at the 1930s:
Stop on by for a special Women's History Month lecture on tea rooms and motorism. This is an inclusive talk, that will cover the general interconnected history between women, tea, and driving, then delve into some of the intersectional challenges specifically faced by Black female motorists and/or tea room operators and celebrate their resillience and resourcefulness!
This multi-sensory lecture will include free hot and iced tea, light snacks, and some parlor games with the chance to win prizes from several local Black-owned tea businesses!
Visitors will also have the chance to touch some antique teaware that was used at King Manor in the 1930s and try their hand at Sim racing in a virtual 1930s dragster!
This event will take place on March 29th from 1-4PM and it is free and open to the public. Tea and Transit is geared toward an adult audience.
Come dressed up in 1930s attire from America or your heritage if the fancy strikes!
As always, all are welcome at King Manor Museum!
