TEA 103: Tea Sensory Development
This course covers how we taste – what do we rely on – what errors should we be aware of. The tea taster’s vocabulary will be covered as well as tastings of various products such as chocolate, water, etc. to identify and fully understand the science of taste.
TEA 104: Tea Types
This course will cover the types of teas produced in different regions/countries in the world. Tasting and style comparisons will be a major component of this section.
NOTES:
- Pre-requisite: TEA 101
- Registration includes printed course material
- This is an intensive program and both TEA 103 & 104 will be covered over the 3-days, including tastings, presentations, blind tasting and multiple choice exam. Due to this, students will be sent digital copies of the course books two weeks before class starts. If a student fails a portion of the testing, they will not be required to retake the entire course. Rather they will have the opportunity to re-take that portion at a future in-person session.

I NSTRUCTOR:
Katie Cyr's first experience with tea comes in the memory of drinking Irish Breakfast with her grandmother out of delicate teacups. Today, she carries the same reverence and passion for the art of tea into her day to day life. Katie founded The Monarch Tea Co. in late 2013 with the vision of bringing together the traditional eloquence of tea time with a modern twist. As a Certified TAC Tea Sommelier® Professional, Katie loves to explore the world of tea with others. Her favourite tea is Cream Earl Grey & Genmaicha.
Registration deadline: Friday, December 20
**Please note that we require a minimum class size to run this course. Due to this, we will be confirming with students one month before the start date if the class will not go ahead and a refund, minus a $50 service fee will be issued.
