Working under the guidance of renowned Nelson artist Lloyd Harwood and in collaboration with our friends at the Department of Conservation, we will design and create a breathtaking light display for a local spot in the festival. The theme celebrates New Zealand's native flora and fauna. You will have the opportunity to use custom templates or design your own unique contribution to the scene. Using a mix of paint, wood, paper, and feathers and natural products we will build a layered, "nocturnal" world that truly comes to life when the sun goes down. You can bring your own materials if you have an idea for your own creation!
What You’ll Learn:
Composition: Master professional techniques to create depth and drama.
Mixed-Media Mastery: Learn how to manipulate different materials for 3D effects.
Light Art: Discover the secrets of "creation development" and how to use light to transform art.
Workshop Details
The workshops are held over two Sundays (3 hours per session - you don't need to come to both but are welcome to).
The Result: While you won't take your creation home, your work will be a featured part of the Te Ramaroa festival for the whole city to admire!
Who Can Join: Suitable for all ages but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
