Te Oho – The AwakeningMichael Tupaea
6 December 2025 – 7 February 2026
Te Oho marks a moment of powerful transformation — to awaken, to stir, to rise. It is a call to consciousness, a reclamation of identity, and a celebration of our ability to heal, awaken, and thrive through vulnerability, courage, and connection.
At its heart, Te Oho is an invitation from Maaori artist Mike Tupaea (Ngaati Te Ata Waiohua, Ngaati Tiipa) to reflect, remember, and reimagine ourselves in relation to our whakapapa, our communities, and the whenua beneath us.
This immersive, multi-sensory exhibition journeys through the Maaori stages of creation — Te Kore (the void), Te Poo (the darkness), and Te Ao Maarama (the world of light and understanding). Sculptural forms, light, taonga puuoro, and storytelling interweave ancestral knowledge with contemporary practice — honouring the past and lighting new pathways for healing and enlightenment.
Awaken. Reclaim. Thrive.
