Te Matatini Herenga Waka Herenga Tangata 2023 is the 25th iteration of the biennial Te Matatini National Kapa Haka Festival. In 2022, we celebrate 50 golden years of Te Matatini since the first festival took place in 1972. Forty-nine Kapa Hapa from across 13 rohe will compete in the National Competition. Te Matatini Festival is a whanau friendly event that showcases excellence in Kapa Haka. Te Matatini also provides a platform to promote Maori businesses through the Festival marketplace and ultimately build and foster collective connectivity among communities across Aotearoa. Te Matatini promotes and champions the use of te reo Maori me ona tikanga through our te reo Maori strategy - Te Mita Tini and showcases the positive contributions that Kapa Haka makes to to Maori health index, social wellbeing and economy of Aotearoa whanui.Sale Dates and Times:
