“Gradually I have fallen more and more under the spell of the work,” Tchaikovsky wrote when composing his Fourth Symphony, “and now I can hardly tear myself away from it.” At once dramatic and life-affirming, the Fourth is one of Tchaikovsky’s most beloved creations.
