TBRI® Connection Group: South

Parenting is challenging, particularly when you are parenting a child from a hard place.  This Implementation and Connection Group will focus on understanding the meaning of child behaviors, the brain chemistry of a child from a hard place, and how to implement these tools in your home to support healing and connection for everyone.  This group will also strive to connect caregivers and create a space for support in a variety of ways.

Audience: This group is intended for caregivers who have achieved permanency for the children in their home and are no longer receiving services through child welfare.  This includes biological caregivers, kinship caregivers, and adoptive caregivers with at least one finalized adoption in their home.

Support Group Schedule:

5:30-6:00: Arrive

6:00-6:30: Dinner for everyone

6:30-7:30: Split into grownup group and childcare (children will have a skills group)

*Participants must have attended TBRI® Introduction.

About TBRI®:

Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) is a parenting and intervention model developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the TCU Institute of Child Development. TBRI® is based on a solid foundation of neuropsychological theory and research, tempered by humanitarian principles. It is a family-based intervention that is designed for children who have experienced relationship-based traumas such as institutionalization, multiple foster placements, maltreatment, and/or neglect.

Darby Baldwin, MA studied under Dr. David Cross and the team at the TCU Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development. The training will utilize the TBRI® curriculum developed by the Institute. Darby received advanced training regarding this curriculum and is qualified as a TBRI® Practitioner to present the content and facilitate the Implementation and Connection Group.
