‘Tax my Tongue', a literary reference, showcases the compositions of three female composers, who were also famous singers in the 18thC, namely, Eliza Turner, Harriet Abrams and Mary-Ann Wrighten.
All three had significant links to Handel's repertoire as singers, and had works written for them by Boyce, Arne, Dibdin and others.
Also featured is the music of Maria Cosway, the celebrated portrait artist and society hostess.
Scandal and tragedy abounded in their lives, which will be explored as narratives during the performance.
There will be an interval with refreshments.
