'Tax my Tongue', a literary reference, showcases the compositions of three female composers, who were also famous singers in the 18thC.

Namely, Eliza Turner, Harriet Abrams and Mary-Ann Wrighten.

All three had significant links to Handel's repertoire as singers, but also had works written for them by Boyce, Arne, Dibdin and others.

Also featured is the music of Maria Cosway, the celebrated portrait artist and society hostess, much influenced by the feminist ideas of Mary Wollstonecraft, buried at St Peter's Church.

Scandal and tragedy abounded in their lives, which will be explored as narratives during the performance.

There will be an interval in this performance with a pay bar for refreshments.

*There is no fee for advanced booking*
