Tastytreats x Blacktronika with DJ Jazzy Jeff, Mike Nyce, Yameen Allworld + Flygirrl
You're invited to something very special! Tastytreats is 25 years old this year. So, when King Britt reached out to ask if we would be a part of his Blacktronika Festival this year, which celebrates legendary parties in Philly nightlife history, I didn't hesitate to say yes. His vision was also to see the events he chose to also be in places that would remind folks of the beginning of the party.
I chose Margolis. Because we did not start Fluid. We started at Filo's. And that was a row home basement. When we started in 2001 we had no idea how popular the party would become so quickly. So towards the end of our first year there, Oronde came one night and could barely move through the crowd and said - Y'all wanna move this shit?! 😂 at the time he was the security soon to be manager of the venue. I said hell yes..
Rob Paine had Saturday nights there was going to be stopping so it was going to be open for the taking. So we slid in there and stayed there every week for 13 years.
Tuesday, June 23, to kick off the Blacktronika Festival, will mark a special moment in history. Tastytreats x Blacktronika will take over Margolis with DJ Mike Nyce and host Yameen Allworld and The Magnificent DJ Jazzy Jeff joining Mike on the decks!!!!!
