About this Event
Rescued from extinction just a decade or so ago, the Jimmy Red Dent corn is prized around Charleston for nutty grits and smooth whiskey, once from moonshiner’s stills, but today from the capable hands of High Wire Distilling, who have been crafting Bourbon from this strain since 2014. The corn is connected to Coastal Carolina and the flavor is unique and rewarding.
Similarly unique, High Wire produces a smooth and richly flavored Rye whiskey from the Abruzzi strain of rye grown regionally in the Southeast, and not normally used in distilling. You’ll enjoy this opportunity to taste this distillery’s commitment to local flavors and the authentic, historic foodways of the Low Country.
Hosted by John Calascione, New York Sales Manager for High Wire Distilling from Charleston, South Carolina
