About this Event
Irpinia is inland and perched high in the hills above the cities of Naples and Salerno. It is home to Italy’s third great red grape, Aglianico, as well as a handful of ancient white varieties dating back to Greek antiquity. Explore the area’s wines with Marco Irato as he presents the wines of the relatively new Le Masciare winery, which has adopted a novel approach to acquiring vineyards and is already producing beautiful wines from old vines that define the region. If you’re a history fan, you can literally go back in time with these wines. If you are into the latest “thing,” keep your eye on Aglianico as it takes its place alongside Sangiovese and Nebbiolo in the top tier of Italian reds.
