About this Event

About this Event

What makes a food distinctly Toronto?

Part storytelling, part tasting experience and exhibition tour, this unique event explores the delicious histories behind the city’s bites and flavours. Through conversation, storytelling, and curated tastings, you will learn about the cultural influences, communities, and moments that shaped Toronto’s culinary identity. From beloved local staples to unexpected favourites, this immersive evening offers a delicious new way to experience the city.

In partnership with The Depanneur, this special edition of Tastes of Toronto features Rhoma Akosua Spencer, an award-winning actor and director, playwright, acting coach, comedienne and cultural critic. When not performing or directing, Rhoma is an accomplished foodie at heart and shares her culinary skills with friends. She reimagines the traditional cuisine of Trinidad and Tobago, giving it a contemporary treatment in her present locale. Her moonlighting gig, Sweethand Delights serves up all the Trinbagonian culinary traditions.

The evening also includes a guided exhibition tour, connecting stories of migration, culture, and community to Toronto's broader history.
