Taste Wine with Núria Garrote-i-Esteve, Founder of VIN°VI & CO

The Wine Goddess is proud to welcome importer extraordinaire, Núria Garrote-i-Esteve, owner and founder of VIN°VI & CO. We'll taste through six gorgeous wines from her Spanish portfolio, and hear how the only daughter of Catalonian parents came to Detroit in the early Aughts and became a powerhouse importer of small-batch Spanish and French wine.

When Núria Garrote-i-Esteve first came to the United States, she thought she’d only be here for two years. That was in 2004. But after falling in love with the lifestyle and the people, she decided to stay. However, after years away from home, she longed for Spain and began to devise a way to stay deeply connected with her culture while living in Detroit. Her solution: wine.

In 2011, Garrote-i-Esteve became one of a handful of female wine importers (not to be confused with wine distributors) in the United States. She formed VinoVi & Co., and decided to focus her efforts on selling niche wine from family-owned vineyards. Her approach: Import high-quality, site-specific wines and personalize them for the consumer by attaching a story about its region and vintner.
