About this Event
Taste of Asia: A Leadership Luncheon on Homeownership, Wealth & Our Community's Future
What does homeownership really mean for AANHPI families—and what's at stake for Charlotte's future?
AREAA Charlotte Metro Chapter invites you to an exclusive luncheon featuring national leadership, groundbreaking research, and a candid fireside chat with four remarkable speakers:
• Hope Atuel — CEO, AREAA National
• Dimples Ajmera — Charlotte City Council, District 5
• Dr. Chu — Childress Klein Center for Real Estate, UNCC Belk College of Business
• Minh Ngo — Executive Director, Charlotte Asian American Chamber of Commerce (CAACC)
Together, they'll explore the local impact and future possibilities of AAPI homeownership, drawing from a landmark new report produced in partnership with the Urban Institute: AANHPI Homeownership and Wealth-Building Trajectories: From Accumulation and Preservation to Intergenerational Transfer over the Life Course.
This research goes beyond statistics—examining how Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities build, sustain, and transfer wealth through homeownership, and where barriers still exist. The conversation will tackle critical questions:
• How can we strengthen sustainable homeownership in the AANHPI community? • What roles should Realtors®, lenders, and policymakers play? • How do we ensure opportunity is not only created—but preserved and passed on?
Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing, most diverse regions in the country. The decisions made now will shape access, opportunity, and generational wealth for decades to come.
This is more than a luncheon. It's a strategic conversation about the future of our region.
Presented by AREAA Charlotte Metro Chapter in partnership with Canopy Realtor® Association's Diversity Inclusion Alliance, Canopy Realtor® Association's Global Alliance, and CAACC.
