TFM Executive Summary

Task Force Movement’s mission is to leverage the private sector, labor unions, veteran organizations, academic and vocational training institutions, and state and federal government partners to create recommendations and quickly operationalize solutions to advance safe and responsible career pathways for the military-connected community (transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses) across the country who are entering the civilian workforce.

Honorable Patrick J. Murphy has served as Chairman of Task Force Movement (TFM) since its launch at the White House with President Biden and Secretary Buttigieg on April 4, 2022, as part of the Biden-Harris Trucking Action Plan. Over the last two years, TFM has created a coalition of over 150 organizations that include employers, industry associations, labor, veteran and community-based organizations, major universities and community colleges, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Army Soldier for Life Program, U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

TFM leadership brings decades of experience to the table in workforce development, military and civilian training and credentialing, as well as implementation of policy and legislation on behalf of transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses. While many of our board members have served in high level positions in the military (both officers and enlisted members), we also have high level representation from public and private employers, academic and vocational institutions, and veteran service organizations.
