The Fool means beginnings. The Tower means upheaval. Three of Swords means heartbreak. Learn enough tarot and it can quickly become an exercise in memorizing someone else's definitions.
But what happens when you put the book away?
In this interactive workshop, we'll set aside traditional card meanings, numbers, names, and memorized interpretations for the evening and focus instead on what's actually in front of us: the imagery.
Together we'll explore:
-Reading the symbols, colors, characters, landscapes, and details within a card.
-Noticing what catches your attention first and considering why.
-Finding relationships between different elements within an image.
-Building a story from what you see instead of searching for the "correct" meaning.
-Comparing how different people can look at the same card and discover completely different possibilities.
-Using those observations to develop your own intuitive reading style.
Throughout the evening, we'll work individually and together through hands-on exercises designed to get you looking more closely, thinking creatively, and trusting what you notice before reaching for a guidebook.
Oracle decks are welcome and encouraged, as are tarot decks that move beyond the familiar Rider-Waite-Smith imagery. The more varied the artwork and symbolism in the room, the more interesting our exploration becomes.
