About this Event
The Taranaki Tourism Summit 2025, hosted by Te Puna Umanga Venture Taranaki, in partnership with He Toronga Pakihi ki Taranaki, is a full-day event exploring the power and potential of tourism in Taranaki, demonstrating how the region can chart a course for prosperity and regeneration of people and place by taking a proactive approach to designing our tourism future.
Tourism is one of the most significant economic and cultural opportunities for Taranaki. With the region’s growing portfolio of visitor assets, including the Taranaki Crossing, Pukerangiora, Ngā Rere, and the North Taranaki Visitor Centre, alongside emerging opportunities in agri-tourism and regenerative tourism, now is the time to collectively explore what tourism can mean for our place, our people, and our economy.
At this pivotal event, attendees will hear from iwi and hapū leaders, national and international experts, operators, and government representatives on the role tourism can play in shaping the region’s future. The Summit will explore how cultural, agri, and regenerative tourism can create visitor experiences that are authentic, sustainable, and future-focused.
The Summit will explore:
Tourism at a pivotal moment — the opportunity for tourism post Maunga redress, and the development of new assets such as the Taranaki Crossing, Pukerangiora, Ngā Rere, and the North Taranaki Visitor Centre.
Cultural tourism — iwi- and hapū-led experiences, storytelling, tikanga, and strategic investment from iwi and hapū in tourism.
Agri-tourism — innovative on-farm visitor experiences, diversification opportunities, and the potential to leverage existing land holdings.
Regenerative tourism — biodiversity, restoration projects, visitor stewardship, and ways tourism can give back to place.
Tourism for good — how the sector can uplift communities, regenerate nature, and create shared value when designed and not left to chance.
National and international perspectives — case studies, keynote addresses, and best practice from across Aotearoa and beyond.
Collaboration and action — how Iwi, industry, and government can work together to realise opportunities, drive innovation, and maximise the benefit to the community and the destination.
Networking Drinks 5 pm -6pm
Wrap up the day by connecting with speakers, delegates, and industry peers over refreshments hosted by our Platinum event partner.
Further speakers and the full programme will be available on the Venture Taranaki website in October.
