Tape B makes his debut at The BayCare Sound with Tape B presents: Tapesgiving with special guests EAZYBAKED b2b Distinct Motive, Space Wizard, and Claybrook on Friday and G Jones, Moody Good and Dr. Ushuu on Saturday
Bridging the gap between old school and new school comes bass music’s latest trailblazer, Kemal Berk Alkana, better known as Tape B! Gaining his start in his bedroom at UCF, Tape B has created a collection of nostalgic flips and classic OG dubstep hits that have caught the likes of major artists like Zeds Dead, Excision, Liquid Stranger, GRiZ and many more. He has also just released a guest mix on Zeds Dead’s iconic DEADBEATS RADIO that holds 6 unreleased tunes and has quickly become a fan favorite of the series. Tape B’s genre-bending experimental approach showcases how differential and necessary he is as an artist. Bringing back that old school dubstep sound with some fresh flare has allowed Tape B to breathe new life into spaces many of us had long-forgotten. From his drippy flips to his legendary singles, he has quite literally taken the bass scene and flipped it upside down.
Eric Ray and Andrew Principe, together known as EAZYBAKED, have found the perfect equilibrium between genre-bending soundscapes and delightful nostalgia. Their yin-yang-like synchronicity, founded on 15 years of friendship, quickly transformed into a uniquely rebellious, contemplative and explosive sonic identity.
Distinct Motive is a Canadian producer/DJ creating explorative, visceral bass music for the masses. He quickly made a name for himself with his dark and minimal production style. Paying homage to the early aesthetic of dubstep while building a sound unique unto himself, he has put his respective hometown of Toronto on the map in international bass music circles, advocating for the original, dub-influenced side of dubstep to elated audiences across North America and Europe.
Greg Jones is the artist behind the enigmatic G JONES moniker. A lauded master of electronic music production and highly sought after performer, G JONES is a collaborator of legendary artists such as Amon Tobin, Eprom, and DJ Shadow. Rolling Stone touted him as a “studio wizard.” It’s a mental minefield of sudden drops and stutters, bass lines that open holes under your feet and send you shooting sideways to some warped mystery land.
Colorado-based DJ and producer Mike Munnelly, a.k.a Space Wizard, has completely taken over the grassroots bass scene since emerging in 2016. By blending together the experimental sounds of both new and old styles of bass music, Space Wizard has created a mind-bending sound design that has completely altered the way many of us perceive dubstep.
Claybrook has carved out a dedicated following within the international bass music scene. Known for his dynamic stage presence, he weaves together heavy sub-frequencies, grimy textures, and complex melodies. His unique style has been described as a dive headfirst into sonic chaos, earning him a strong reputation in Europe and beyond.
Eddie Jefferys paints a vivid picture with his music. Formerly one half of UK bass duo, 16bit, Jefferys now assumes the moniker, Moody Good, as his solo project, through which he crafts woozy, bass-heavy soundscapes that touch on a variety of genres, including ragged-edge dubstep and grime, two-step and left-field hip-hop. His often aggressive and ground-breaking approach to bass-heavy music has been turning heads since the creation of the Moody Good project.
Born in Portugal and raised in Paris, Dr. Ushūu has quickly emerged as one of bass music’s most exciting rising talents. Blending cinematic sound design, emotional storytelling, and cutting-edge dubstep energy, he has built a world entirely his own. Originally producing under the alias DCR, Dr. Ushūu reinvented himself into a project inspired by imagination, perseverance, and the cosmos - creating the Ushuuverse, where futuristic visuals and genre-bending bass music collide.
