Join Tania Te Huna and Taikura o te Awa Tupua for a very special Puanga kōrero hosted by Whanganui District Library (Davis Library). This kōrero will explore the remarkable journey of the kūaka (bar-tailed godwit). Each year these amazing migratory manu (birds) make the epic round-trip across the world's oceans between Aotearoa, Asia and Alaska. Discover their endurance, the pathways they travel, and the deep cultural significance of kūaka within te ao Māori. Te tangi a te kūaka speaks not only to the physical call of the bird, but to themes of return, connection, and resilience. Join us as we explore the story of this extraordinary manu.
This talk is part of the Nōna Te Ao Puanga Talks Series which will be occurring over the Puanga season every Wednesday from 17 June to 22nd July.
Please note while the Nōna Te Ao series is hosted by the Alexander Library, this event will be occurring in the Davis Library (Whanganui District Library).
