Within the lyrical oeuvre of Rainer Maria Rilke, his "Improvisations from the Caprese Winter" occupy a unique position. Written on Capri in 1906 and 1907, this verse cycle by no means anticipates Rilke’s "object poems"—composed shortly thereafter—but rather seeks to allow the meaning of what is spoken to be grasped through the sheer sound of the spoken word; this requires no special preparation—only intuition and emotion count. For this very reason—and indeed, precisely because of it—this poem is a gift for an improvisational artist like Tamara Lukasheva. For this singer and pianist—born in Odesa, Ukraine, in 1988 and now based in Cologne—the aim is likewise often to use her voice to delve beneath the surface of things and arrive at the fundamental essence of a subject. Her singing serves as both mediator and medium simultaneously. The persona of Tamara Lukasheva recedes into the background, allowing the core essence and fundamental nature of Rilke’s verses to be experienced solely through the timbre of the voice—pure, unadulterated, and authentic.

Im lyrischen Werk von Rainer Maria Rilke nehmen dessen „Improvisationen aus dem Capreser Winter“ eine Sonderstellung ein. 1906 und 1907 auf Capri geschrieben, nimmt dieser Verszyklus die kurz darauf entstandenen „Ding-Gedichte“ Rilkes aber keineswegs vorweg, sondern versucht, über den Klang des gesprochenen Wortes denn Sinn des Gesagten erfassen zu lassen; dafür braucht es keine besondere Vorbereitung, nur Intuition und Emotion zählen. Auch und gerade deshalb ist dieses Gedicht ein Geschenk für eine Improvisationskünstlerin wie Tamara Lukasheva. Auch dieser in Köln lebenden, 1988 im ukrainischen Odesa geborenen Sängerin und Pianistin geht es oftmals darum, mit der Stimme hinter die Dinge zu kommen und zur ursprünglichen Bedeutung einer Sache zu gelangen. Ihr Gesang ist Mittler und Medium zugleich. Die Person Tamara Lukasheva tritt in den Hintergrund, um den Wesenskern und das Grundlegende in den Versen Rilkes allein durch das Timbre der Stimme zu erfahren – pur, rein und echt.
