TAMA FUYU Drum Clinic at Swee Lee Clarke Quay

Swee Lee Clarke Quay welcomes FUYU, one of Japan’s most respected session drummers and longtime TAMA artist, for a special drum clinic showcasing his musical approach and signature sound.

Known for his versatility across genres — from J-Pop and gospel to jazz and contemporary session work — FUYU brings decades of performance experience to the stage. Through live demonstrations and musical breakdowns, this session offers a rare chance to see how groove, touch, and musical sensitivity come together behind the kit.

Born in Japan, FUYU began playing drums at the age of two and later moved to New York, where he was already participating in sessions at Harlem jazz clubs by the age of nine. Over the years he has built a remarkable career performing with some of Japan’s biggest artists, including MISIA, AI, and EXILE ATSUSHI’s RED DIAMOND DOGS. A TAMA endorser since 2009, he has also played a key role in promoting major TAMA drum lines such as the STAR series and Starclassic Walnut/Birch.
