Tallahassee Roller Derby Bootcamp

Tallahassee Roller Derby wants you to skate with us! We will hold new skater Boot Camp starting July 12th, 2026 at 3:00-5:00 pm. The training program is six 2-hour sessions focused on skating skills, drills, and basics of game play. TRD is a member of Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and plays by the WFTDA ruleset. We welcome women and gender expansive people of all skill levels to build skating mobility, stability, and agility to play roller derby. New Skater Training is also for all people interested in becoming referees. In order to participate, you need to be able to stand comfortably on roller skates.
We will teach you everything else you need to know, but other important foundational skills include:
- Skating Forward
- Slowing and stopping
- Shifting your balance
All attendees must bring and wear their own individually fitted mouth guard. Safety gear is required; helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads and knee pads. Skaters should also bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing. We have a limited supply of skates (skate sizes 5-12) and protective gear (helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads and knee pads) to borrow during Boot Camp. If you plan to purchase skates or gear before starting, please reach out to us first so we can guide you.
The 6-week series is $110, with or without borrowed gear. We accept cash, card, or mobile payments. Derby is inclusive - including socioeconomic status - please note on the form if cost is a barrier and we can discuss options.
Registration will close on Saturday, July 12. You must be registered to participate. Details on the location of the sessions will be sent by email or text to registrants before the first session.
