Tall Sips - On Board Gazela

In support of the Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild and in partnership with the Philadelphia Brewing Company, APT-DVC invites you to Tall Sips onboard Gazela for an evening on the waterfront. First drink is included with your ticket!

The Gazela Primeiro was built in Portugal in 1901 as a commercial fishing vessel spending nearly 70 years catching cod in the Grand Banks off Newfoundland. After several storms put her into retirement, the historic tall ship was acquired by the Philadelphia Maritime Museum in 1971 as an example of historic sailing vessels of the time sailing up and down the east coast for many years. The Gazela passed into the stewardship of the Preservation Guild in 1990 supporting a strong volunteer program which has extended her range of activities as well as extensive and ongoing repairs. Gazela continues to be under repair docked at Penn’s Landing the vessel serves as an interactive museum and classroom connecting youth and adults to the waterfront and interest in maritime history.
