Talking Circle: The Wounded Healer
About this Event
Many of the most compassionate, insightful, and service-oriented people have been shaped by hardship. Throughout history, healers, teachers, elders, and wisdom keepers have often emerged not in spite of their wounds, but because of them. The experiences that challenge us most deeply can also become the source of our greatest understanding, empathy, and strength.
In this Talking Circle, we explore the archetype of the wounded healer—the idea that our struggles, losses, and imperfections can become medicine when approached with awareness, humility, and care. From a psychological perspective, healing is not about becoming free from suffering, but developing a new relationship with it. From an Indigenous perspective, life's challenges often carry teachings that invite us into deeper relationship with ourselves, our community, and Spirit.
We will also reflect on how non-ordinary states of consciousness can illuminate old wounds, reveal hidden strengths, and offer opportunities for profound insight. Yet wisdom is not found in the experience alone—it emerges through integration, reflection, and the willingness to walk with what we have learned.
✨ In this circle, we’ll explore:
- The wounded healer archetype and why it appears across cultures
- How adversity can deepen empathy, resilience, and understanding
- The difference between healing our wounds and identifying with them
- Compassion fatigue, boundaries, and caring for ourselves while serving others
- Non-ordinary states as opportunities for insight, meaning, and growth
- Transforming personal struggle into wisdom, purpose, and service
This gathering invites us to honor both our humanity and our resilience. Our wounds do not define us, yet they often shape the gifts we are called to offer. Through reflection, community, and shared wisdom, we can begin to see how even our most difficult experiences may contribute to healing—not only for ourselves, but for those around us.
Donation-based. All are welcome.Come sit with us as we explore how pain becomes wisdom, how struggle becomes medicine, and how healing can ripple outward into service, connection, and compassion. 🪶🌿
