About this Event

Join Trevor Leeson at Grantham Museum for a special evening of stories and memories from a remarkable career spanning more than seven decades.

Born in Great Gonerby and educated at Spittlegate School and The King’s School, Trevor began his musical career in 1958 as a member of the skiffle band The Rebels. From there, his career took him from rock ’n’ roll tours of American Army bases in France with The Pontiacs, to London’s famous 2I’s Coffee Bar on Old Compton Street.

His career is packed with fascinating stories and remarkable encounters. Trevor went on to play with Dawn and the Dee-Jays, who released a single on RCA featuring session musicians including Big Jim Sullivan and a young Jimmy Page. He later joined Grantham band Gingerbread, whose music was regularly played on Radio 1.

After years of performing and touring, Trevor embarked on a solo career and, from 1974 onwards, worked alongside some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Ken Dodd and the Electric Light Orchestra.

Now, Trevor will share some of the stories behind the music — from memorable performances and famous encounters to the people, places and experiences that shaped his extraordinary career.

Seven Decades of Stories promises an entertaining evening of music, memories, humour and fascinating social history, told by one of Grantham’s best-known musicians.
