Talk on Henry Lord, Salford Architect
About this Event
Henry Lord was the architect of many buildings in Victorian and Edwardian Manchester and Salford. In a lengthy career, he designed schools, libraries, hospital buildings and offices, usually in his characteristic red brick and terracotta, many of which still grace his home city of Salford. They include the Technical Institute (now part of Salford University), The Queen’s Jubilee Nurses Home (now the Working Class Movement Library) and Salford Museum and Library, all on The Crescent, and Salford Lads Club.
The talk will be given by Anthea Darlington. Anthea is a retired Swinton headteacher and Secretary of the Manchester Group, having been a member of the Victorian Society for 44 years.
