Sourland Birds in Winter: How to Know Them and How to Feed Them with Juanita Hummel
Feeding birds in winter is an activity that can provide a wonderful window into nature for individuals and families, and the Sourlands are home to many species and winter destinations for others.
This talk is designed to help beginner to intermediate backyard bird watchers identify the birds that may visit their yards in winter, help them to distinguish between similar-looking birds for a correct identification, and introduce some of the less common birds that may occasionally turn up in Sourland yards when the weather is particularly snowy or icy. How, what and where to feed birds safely, what to do if you see a bird that appears to be sick, and how to use native plants as food sources for birds will also be discussed.
