Why Animal Testing for Human Medicines Is One of the Most Solvable Forms of Animal Exploitation.Date: Saturday 28th March
Time: 15:15-15:45
Location: Vegan Australia Talks and Workshops Area
Animal testing for human medicines is one of the most solvable forms of animal exploitation, because itβs usually justified by the belief that itβs necessary or that the benefits to humans outweigh the harms to non-human animals. In this talk, Iβll share why many animal tests are often poor predictors of human outcomes, how human-relevant sci-fi methods including organoids, organs-on-chips, AI and the virtual human, are already replacing them, and why changing a small set of rules in Australian guidelines can permanently reduce animal suffering.
