? About our speaker, Guido Zsilavecz:
? I started diving in 1989, and quickly became interested in the underwater environment and photography.
? This interest led me to create the Southern Underwater Research Group (SURG), through which I published two marine identification guides, and have contributed to many other guides, as well as having numerous articles published in various magazines.
? In 2001 I discovered and described a new species of klipfish – the bluespotted klipfish (Pavoclinus caeruleopunctatus ), followed by another discovery in 2012 – the mosaic klipfish (Clinus musaicus) which I co-described. In 2014 a small shrimp I discovered – the stargazer mysid (Mysiopsis zsilaveczi) - was named after me.
?? I love dive travel and have been on 21 trips overseas – from Argentina to Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and closer to home, Egypt, Mozambique and Seychelles.
? My favourite destination remains Indonesia due to its incredible variety of dive locations and marine life.
