Please join the Department of Portuguese & Brazilian Studies and the Brazil Initiative on Tuesday, March 17 from 12:00-1:30 in the Monteiro Conference Room (102) of Meiklejohn House (159 George St.) for a talk delivered in Portuguese by author Paloma Vidal, “O livro com ela: escrever não é lembrar.”
ABOUT THE PRESENTATION
“Writing is not remembering, but rather, on the contrary, delimiting what is impossible to recover” — this phrase by the Argentine writer Sergio Chejfec, from a text entitled “Simple Language, Name,” is the starting point for discussing some paths of reading and reflection in the elaboration of a novel in progress, “O livro com ela,” about an experience shared by two women in Argentina in the mid-1970s. The presentation combines reflective and performative moments with the reading of already-written excerpts from the book.
