Critic and writer Michael Dervan explores the life and work of nineteenth-century French composer Hector Berlioz. He was a true original, whose unpredictable genius still stirs the deepest of passions. He famously blurred the boundaries between life and art, especially in his "Symphonie fantastique", a celebration of his five-year-long, unrequited passion that was prompted by seeing the Irish actress, Harriet Smithson in Shakespeare’s "Hamlet" and "Romeo and Juliet".
One-hour illustrated talk in English.
